Recently, The Wall Street Journal examined a Barclay’s Wealth report that revealed that among wealthy investors, women are more likely to invest in real estate than men. The results of the study were very interesting but not surprising.
Specifically:
* Almost half (49%) of the women surveyed consider real estate to be a less risky investment than stocks, compared with 37% of men.
* 44% of women surveyed find buying property more enjoyable than investing in other asset classes. Only 28% of men feel the same way. While 34% of men are likely to invest in real estate indirectly through a fund, only 14% of women would prefer this approach.
The National Association of Realtors reports that 60 percent of Realtors are women, so real estate doesn’t seem to be simply a preference of wealthy women, but is desirable for most women. The typical Realtor is female, 52, married and college-educated. So both the buyer and seller sides of real estate are female-dominated.
Does this surprise you? What do you think the statistics are consistent along Scenic 30-A and Destin?
