Panama City Beach residents and visitors have been waiting a long time for the re-construction of the Dan Russell Pier near Pier Park in Panama City Beach Florida. It is scheduled to open July 4th, 2009 with a big bang. For the past three years the old pier has been the launch site for the awe inspiring Pier Park fireworks display. Last year thousands of people showed up to view the amazing show and this year will be no different.
The new pier is 1,500 feet long stretching far out into the Gulf of Mexico and is 17 feet wide. The new pier will accomadate many visitors and fisherman alike. There is a new boardwalk planned that will be nearly 300 feet wide that will tie nicely into Pier Park’s venues. The boardwalk will have a ticket booth for entrance onto the pier, a restaurant, a tackle and bait store, public bathrooms and a large outdoor area with umbrella seating for those seeking stellar beach and gulf views.
If you do not already have plans for the 4th of July, this would be an excellent place to visit and enjoy the grand opening and stunning fireworks display.
